Our Grant Program
Walking With Anthony’s donation funded grant program was created to provide urgent rehabilitation grants and access to essential recovery resources for those recently affected by spinal cord injuries. This emergency initiative helps bridge the impossible gap between what insurance covers—and what recovery truly requires. Without immediate support, those injured may never walk—or live independently—again.
Meet Micki & Anthony
In the late morning of February 6, 2010, Anthony Purcell dove into the waters of Miami Beach, something he’d done many times before without incident. This time, he misjudged the depth of his landing spot, broke his neck, and bruised the C5 and C6 vertabrae in his spine. He injured his spinal cord. He was paralyzed, unable to resurface from the water on his own.

Derek was thrown from his bike into the ditch during the accident and luckily a passerby witnessed the accident and was able to immediately assist in getting medical attention.

In November 2020 while visiting my daughter I had an accident that threw me in to a wall I hit my head on the stud in the wall and it broke my neck I was immediately rushed in for Care I was put into a coma for five days while they desperately tried to keep my blood pressure up my blood pressure did finally stabilize.
On December 19, 2020, I lost my mom. Three months later, as I was still trying to process that grief, I was in a horrific motorcycle accident with my best friend from childhood. The accident left me in a coma, followed by two agonizing months in the ICU,
Marianela’s ex-boyfriend violated the security of the condominium and when he arrived at the house where we were, without saying a word he shot my friend and then shot me in the back of my neck causing my spinal cord injury.
I am a 42-year-old single mother of three children, and I have been struggling with multiple sclerosis (MS), which has significantly impacted my ability to walk and participate in daily activities.
I unfortunate was misdiagnosed for several years. I had been rear ended in a car accident just over a decade ago. I did chiropractics for a few years and felt a lot of relief. About 7 years ago I started having mid back pain.
