Our Grant Program
Walking With Anthony’s donation funded grant program was created to provide urgent rehabilitation grants and access to essential recovery resources for those recently affected by spinal cord injuries. This emergency initiative helps bridge the impossible gap between what insurance covers—and what recovery truly requires. Without immediate support, those injured may never walk—or live independently—again.
Meet Micki & Anthony
In the late morning of February 6, 2010, Anthony Purcell dove into the waters of Miami Beach, something he’d done many times before without incident. This time, he misjudged the depth of his landing spot, broke his neck, and bruised the C5 and C6 vertabrae in his spine. He injured his spinal cord. He was paralyzed, unable to resurface from the water on his own.

In May 2017, my life changed forever. A car accident left me with a spinal cord injury at C4-C6, making me an incomplete quadriplegic.
On April 1, 2023 I went to the ER with tingling in my legs. I have COVID for 10 days. In the ER my legs and back were very painful. After MRI, Spinal Tap and Blood work I was admitted into the Stroke Unit at Mission Hospital. I was diagnosed with Transverse Myeleitis.
I went out to the desert while pregnant and got injured on an ATV. My shoe got stuck and I flipped over the handlebars and broke my neck. I am a quadriplegic now and have a son.

During my freshman year, my life took a tragic and unexpected turn. I was in a car accident as a passenger. There were six of us in the car, and two of my friends didn’t survive. One of them was my boyfriend. I sustained a spinal cord injury that left me a quadriplegic, and my world changed in an instant.
On October 14,2023 I was driving to my new job as a personal trainer for the new Crunch fitness in Tucker, GA. I was driving down a road that I’d traveled everyday for three years when a deer ran out causing me to hit a tree and fracture my C4-C6 vertebrae.
On September 28, 2024, my husband fell off our roof while completing some routing home maintenance. This particular Saturday morning, he was the only person home.
My son was shot last may in a drive by shooting, my son died and spent 8 months in the hospital he died and was resuscitated back to live was on life support a coma, he had 7 transfusions he went into cardiac arrest he doesn’t have a chest plate only wires, he is paralyzed was shot in his intestines, liver, pancreas , diaphragm, heart and spine.
I was a backseat passenger in a single vehicle automobile wreck. The driver was being careless and wreckless doing 49 mph over the posted speed limit. I was the only one who got injured.
I am now 29 years old with a C4 incomplete SPI. The injury happened on November 26, 2022, where I was shot in the neck at a nightclub celebrating my class reunion.
On August 26th I woke up in Fresno Regional Medical Center. I learned that the night before I was in a car accident on my way to the grocery store in Bootjack, CA.
